Dr. Robert Marion, OMD., L.Ac. was an American acupuncturist, Oriental medical doctor, researcher and pioneer in nutritional medicine. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Marion apprenticed with noted medical specialists including Hiroshi Hayashi, Michio Kushi, T.T. Liang, Dr. Yoshio Manaka, Dr. Masahilo Nakazono, Master Oki, Dr. Huang Bing Shan and Shizuko Yamamoto.
In private practice for over thirty-two years, Dr. Marion gained respect, conducted research and saw remarkable results. Dr. Marion was instrumental in the introduction of acupuncture and Oriental medicine in the West. A favorite speaker at medical colleges and medical conventions, Dr. Marion was noted for his clear and witty teaching style, warm bedside manner and extensive knowledge of acupuncture and Oriental medicine, past and present, physical and spiritual.
Trained in the traditional Japanese apprenticeship style, Dr. Marion served as the medical director of the Westlake Clinic in Austin, Texas and founded the Westlake Foundation in 1985, dedicated to the advancement of acupuncture and Oriental medicine. The Art of Health and Happiness and The Natural Foods Pyramid were first published in 2007 by the Westlake Foundation.
Dr. Robert Marion passed away in late February of 2009. He, his healings and his teachings will be greatly missed.
